Before you use it: quick check

• There is no gasket. The metal-to-metal seal should have a thin film of petroleum jelly (see your manual).
• Check the wing-nut knobs and clamp bolts for cracks or stripped threads.
• Make sure the vent pipe is clear and the overpressure plug is soft and seated.
• Have the dial steam gauge tested for accuracy every year. Replace it if it reads more than 2 psi off.
