Before you use it: quick check

• Check the sealing ring. Replace it if it is hard, cracked or stretched, or if steam leaks around the lid.
• Replace the overpressure plug or air vent at the same time as the gasket.
• Hold the lid up to the light and make sure the vent pipe is clear. Use a cleaning rod.
• Have the dial steam gauge tested for accuracy every year. Replace it if it reads more than 2 psi off.
