Pressure canner racks by diameter
How to measure for a canner rack
- Measure straight across the inside bottom of your canner or cooker, from wall to wall.
- Pick the rack just smaller than that number so it lies flat.
- If you're stacking jars, get a second rack to go between the layers.
Water bath canning racks
Wire water bath racks hold jars upright and lift them out of boiling water. We carry 11.5 quart ($8.49) and 21 quart ($11.99) wire canning racks.
Canner rack questions
Do I need a rack in my pressure canner?
Yes. Jars should never sit directly on the bottom of a canner. The rack lets water and steam circulate under the jars and keeps them from cracking.
How do I measure for a replacement canner rack?
Measure straight across the inside bottom of your canner, then choose the rack that is slightly smaller than that measurement. Or look up your model number and we will show the rack that fits.
Can I use a water bath canning rack in a pressure canner?
Only if it fits flat on the bottom and lets the lid close. Pressure canner racks are flat, low plates. Water bath racks are usually wire baskets with handles that may be too tall.
Can I stack two layers of jars in a pressure canner?
Yes, if your canner is tall enough. Put a second rack between the layers so the top jars sit flat and steam can circulate.
